MUS-E® NETWORK
The MUS-E® Network was initiated by Lord Menuhin.
Each MUS-E association builds on the validated practices of thousands of artists and teachers who have developed the programme with clear and detailed indicators of success.
National Ministries of Education and Culture, major companies, major banks, art and music institutions, Regional authorities and Municipalities support the initiatives in the national territories. Prominent personalities in many fields contribute with their interest in the MUS-E programme and encourage its development.
The MUS-E® Network is part of the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, based in Brussels, Belgium. This provides new ways of artistic exchanges and serves as a base for implementation and coordination of cross-cultural projects.
In each country where MUS-E operates, selected musicians and artists work in liaison with school teachers and offer their artistry and pedagogical skills through long-term intervention. Selected local artists develop artistic projects with children, during curricular hours. These enhance plenty of skills and competences in children and also provide them experiences of social inclusion and respect for cultural diversity, especially needed in today multicultural schools.
Extra-curricular initiatives are also included in the MUS-E programme of many countries.
All activities provided by MUS-E are free of charge both for students and schools.
2023 marks the 30th anniversary year of the
creation of the MUS-E® Programme, which took place in Saanen, Switzerland,
where Yehudi Menuhin, together with IYMF Executive Vice-President Marianne
Poncelet and IYMF Vice-President Werner Schmitt, conceived this programme in
1993.
To celebrate this anniversary, MUS-E® delegates
and the IYMF reunited during three days in Saanen, Switzerland, from August
25th to 27th.
The event was punctuated by musical moments
with Gilles Apap, Mookie Menuhin, and Jeremy Menuhin, who also gave a very
moving speech about his father, Lord Menuhin.
